As the son of a Christian minister, moving was a frequent experience in George Fearing’s childhood. His father was called to pastor at various churches across the country. George learned early that it’s the people, not the place, that matters most in life, and, where ever you may go, it takes teamwork to accomplish anything worthwhile.
Raising five kids on a modest minister’s salary, George’s parents set priorities of family and faith, hard work and perseverance that shaped George’s values as he worked hard to excel at both academics and athletics in school.
After graduating from college in Walla Walla with a major in business administration, he went on to the University of Washington Law School, graduating in 1982, and then moved to the Tri-Cities to begin practicing law.
George has 25 years of legal experience representing communities, such as cities and counties, as well as individual citizens, in a broad range of cases which emphasize government accountability in our daily lives. It has given him invaluable on-the-job training in fighting to restore integrity and common sense to the process of government at the community level, goals he now wants to fight for in Congress in an effort to get our country back on track.
George has also provided free legal representation to the disadvantaged throughout his legal career, as well as volunteering his services to numerous church and civic organizations. He says simply, “I marvel at how lucky I am to have been born in the United States. I just want to give something back to this great country of ours, to keep it the greatest nation on earth.” This commitment to reach out and give back reflect a desire to remember the message of kindness, tolerance and freedom that his parents raised him to believe in. It is a message that reaches across old political boundaries and creates new relationships based on mutual respect and cooperation.
With his extensive legal experience, knowledge of community organizations and ability to forge lasting working relationships, George Fearing is ready to fight to bring a new direction to our country and to serve the people of the 4th Congressional District with integrity and independence.
(George Fearing currently resides in Kennewick, Washington. He is an active member of the community and is devoted to his son, George, age 12.)
